2024 Houston Open: Predictions, expert picks, odds, field rankings, golf best bets for Memorial Park

The PGA Tour spends a brief two-week period in the Lone Star State prior to the season's first major championship.

After being absent in 2023, the 2024 Houston Open is reinstated to the PGA Tour schedule this week. Memorial Park Golf Course will be the venue for a formidable ensemble of figures.

The spotlight is on the leader of the golfing community: Scottie Scheffler. Following his victories at the Players Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the native Texan endeavors to join Dustin Johnson as the only player to capture three consecutive PGA Tour titles.

In 2022, Scheffler encountered a comparable circumstance subsequent to his triumphs at the WGC-Match Play and the Masters; however, he failed in his initial endeavor.

Two years later, the world No. 1 is not only the preeminent player in the sport, but his lead over the rest of the pack is also broadening. In recent weeks, Wyndham Clark has established himself as Scheffler's most formidable adversary.

Clark, who is seeking a second appearance in the winner's circle this season, placed second to Scheffler at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship. This includes the reigning U.S. Open champion.

This week, the two Americans are joined in Houston by their compatriots Sahith Theegala, Will Zalatoris, Tony Finau, and Keith Mitchell, as the Masters tournament approaches in less than two weeks and final preparations are underway.
